The summer vacation period in Italy starts around the middle of June and lasts till the middle of September. Individual dates are scheduled by the schools. Governmental regulations prescribe 34 weeks of school per year.
Many shops and restaurants throughout the country are closed around 15 August. Apart from the nationwide public holidays, there is no further school vacation.
